Lot

Lot is the son of Haran and the nephew of Abraham, the ancestor of faith, and his name means ‘hidden cover’.

He came out of Ur of the Chaldeans with Abraham and moved to Canaan, where he lived together. When God blessed Abraham and their livestock and servants prospered, frequent quarrels arose, so he left Abraham and moved to the fertile land of Sodom, where he lived.

Upon hearing the news, Abraham quickly runs with 318 of his retainers to rescue Lot and his family.

Unfortunately, even after this incident, Lot does not follow Abraham, the source of blessing, and remains in the land of Sodom.

Not long after, the corrupted Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God’s judgment. At this time, he lost his wife and fled to Zoar with his two daughters. Lot, who became blind, has a child between his two daughters, who become the ancestors of Moab and Ammon, who are cursed to never enter the assembly of Jehovah.

Lot knew that even in the corrupt land of Sodom and Gomorrah, he had a heart to consider God more precious than himself and to serve God, such as taking God’s angels into his house and giving up his daughter when the corrupt people there tried to harm the angels. can But God was the God of Abraham, the God who made Abraham the source of blessing. Although Lot may have desired to serve his Lord with a sincere heart, he did not exalt God’s will above his own. If he knew this meaning clearly, he would never have been able to leave Abraham, the source of blessing.
